Cruella – A smart and well rounded cast and crew turned what could have been another live action remake flop into an incredibly enjoyable movie.
Mamma Mia! – This classic musical inspired by the beloved ABBA discography is heartfelt, entertaining, and amusing all at once. All star performances from Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried steal the show and make this a memorable movie that is worth watching for musical fans and liars alike.
They Live – Roddy Piper and Keith David share the screen in this cult classic from John Carpenter. A must watch for fans of Sci-Fi. They Live, We Sleep.
Weekend Watchlist – Sept 10th 2021 – A double dose of real life stories and an indie sci-fi movie that we watched for #WhosInTheBox a few weeks ago. What are you watching this weekend?
The Book of Eli – an early 2010s apocalypse movie starring the ever talented Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, and Mila Kunis. #TheBookofEli is a decently satisfying apocalypse story with some noticeable issues. #MoviesNotFilms
Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings – Another summer weekend, another Marvel Movie. #ShangChi is best at borrowing from other movies & doesn’t make as solid of an impact as I would have liked but is entertaining nonetheless. #MoviesNotFilms
My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell It To – As incredibly thought provoking as it is claustrophobic, My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell It To is well worth the rental price.
The Night House – Rebecca Hall stars in this original and refreshing horror story from David Bruckner. With dread and suspense aplenty, The Night House defies the haunted house subgenre.
Series Pick – Death Note – A stunning anime adaptation of a popular manga, Death Note is a fantastic series for new comers & fans of the genre. With a compelling story and rich characters, Death Note is easy to watch but hard to put down.
Reminiscence – A very familiar concept with a promising twist that ultimately fails to deliver. Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson headline this Westworld flavored noir drama from Warner Bros and HBO Max.
