Blog 5 – I got married!

What’s up?

My last blog post was about my summer wrap-up. It’s been pretty slow since then. Nothing too crazy. I’ve been spending time watching a ton of movies lately (big surprise for the guy with a movie website right?). The details are all on my Letterboxd diary but here are the highlights.

  • In Bruges
  • The Grand Budapest Hotel
  • Suspiria (1977)
  • Until the End of the World
  • Strange Days
  • They Live! 35th-anniversary screening in theaters – super cool
  • Invasion of the Body-Snatchers
  • Some Like It Hot
  • Bottoms (hilarious)

I think that Bottoms is the funniest movie I’ve seen so far this year. I doubt it gets passed up by anything released in the next few months. I also watched Jury Duty on Prime. That is without a doubt the funniest show I’ve seen in a long time. It’s a truly hilarious concept and I highly recommend it to anybody who loves The Office-style humor. It shares some producers with The Office so the connection makes sense. I actually got a couple of people at work to watch it and they really enjoyed it. It’s always validating to hear when people enjoy your recommendations.

I freaking love my camera.

I mentioned last time that I got myself a real camera, ya know, like one that isn’t also an iPhone. I’ve been practicing every week and learning what my style is. I definitely gravitate towards warmer colors. Adobe Lightroom has a really nice vintage filter that I’ve been applying and having a lot of fun with. I got myself a 1/4 pro-mist filter and it adds a soft hazy, almost dream-like effect to light and edges. It makes a really cool image. I’ve uploaded a bunch of my work below. Let me know if you have a favorite.

I think the light trail one with the ball of fire is the coolest. I learned that if you get a bunch of super fine-grade steel wool and shove it into a whisk with a chain attached, you can light the wool on fire and spin it around. Set your camera up for a normal long exposure and it’ll create some cool effects.

What’s new?

Well as the excerpt said, I got married. I had been dating my fiance since I was 12 years old. We’re both 26 and have been together for 14 years. I proposed back in 2021 and we had a long engagement to plan everything out and make sure it was done our way. It all paid off marvelously. As of the time of this post, I’ve left for my honeymoon abroad. I’ve never left the US before so this is super exciting. I’ll be taking all sorts of pictures and videos while I explore Italy. I’ll keep the details sparse until I get back so it can be somewhat of a surprise.
