E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Review

A young boy named Elliot discovers a small, scared alien in the woods behind his house. Elliot befriends the strange creature and names him E.T. He even introduces E.T to his brother and sister. But they soon learn that the longer E.T. is on Earth, the sicker he becomes.

As my dad likes to remind me, my friends, and our mutual coworkers, I was terrified of E.T. as a kid so I never really watched it more than once or twice. So watching it in 2022 for the first time in probably 18 years was like watching it for the first time all over again. And you know what, I really enjoyed it! It was exciting, funny, and very well written. Definitely one that I’ll traumatize or delight my own kids with when they exist.

E.T. The Exta-Terrestrial is available to stream on Prime Video ($).

Dylan created Movies Not Films as a fun project to stay occupied during the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. He started with a simple movie diary on a spreadsheet and eventually transformed it into MoviesNotFilms.com with a robust catalog of reviews, suggestions, and ranking lists. Currently living with his now-fiancé and two dogs, Dylan has a full-time career but still makes time to watch all the latest movies and most of the new TV shows.
