North by Northwest Review

Advertising executive Roger Thornhill is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time with a dead man at his feet and a bloody knife in his hand. Unable to explain what happened and desperate to throw off the strange men in suits chasing him, Thornhill flees the scene and goes into hiding. Desperate to clear his name, Thornhill gets caught up in a stranger than fiction conspiracy involving secret agents and government secrets.

Directed by the grandfather of suspense films, Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest stars Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint. Both lead actors are incredibly charismatic and the very embodiment of on screen chemistry, which makes for a very entertaining story. With twists, turns, and iconic imagery aplenty, North by Northwest is a true classic.

North by Northwest is available to stream on HBO MAX.

Dylan created Movies Not Films as a fun project to stay occupied during the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. He started with a simple movie diary on a spreadsheet and eventually transformed it into with a robust catalog of reviews, suggestions, and ranking lists. Currently living with his now-fiancé and two dogs, Dylan has a full-time career but still makes time to watch all the latest movies and most of the new TV shows.
